driving noise and 4wd problem

ok. i'v having some problems with this for some time. when ever i put the truck in 4x4 a whining starts up like it gonna take off and it gets louder the faster i go and slow when i slow down. also after driving maybe 50 ft it starts pulling to the right really bad and the motor starts bogging down. also when i drive in 4x4 or 2x4 its got this thumping noise that starts at 30mph and speeds up with the truck until about 40 and then is gone. we recently got snow here and i took it out cause i was told the pulling part was due to driving it on dry payvment. no pulling but seemed like it was pulling all over the road. i've changed both cv shafts cause they were bad and changed the front axle cause of the whining and no luck with that. i know when i put it in 4x4 and then later take it out it seems like forever for the front axle to dissengauge. i was told its the switch on the transfercase thats causeing that so i will be changing that soon. could that cause the 4x4 not to engauge all of the way and my whining? i know it works cause i could spin wheels in it. last year i could drive one dry pavment and i'd be fine. no whining or pulling so somethings up. when i had the axle out i lost 2 of the small bearings that go in the universal joint so i got another one but havent installed it yet. i'm also driving with my spare tire on the back which is one tire size smaller then the rest. don't know if that helps any but i know putting it on the front doesn't make a difference.

First thing you need a matched set of tires.
Did it do this before you put spare tire on?
Check transfer case fluid level and have a look at the drive shafts and front axle shafts.
Jack and block it up and put it in 4W and turn wheels one direction and then the other way spin the front wheels and see if you can feel any binding.
Also check for front axle locking in good.

Re: driving noise and 4wd problem

front axle fluid is fine, rear is fine and so is the transfer case. axles are fine. i don't know if it did or not before i put the spare on. i know last year it was fine. i ment to say today i did notice it seems like its binding because if i'm driving on dry pavment it starts to bind and pull as soon as i hit a little snow the whining stops and it releases the wheel but as soon as i hit dry pavment it goes again. also i noticed today that when it does come out of 4x4 it bangs really had almost like i hit a speed bump. its never done this before. i messed up my old rim which is why the spare is on there. the new ones in the mail.

Re: driving noise and 4wd problem

Get your tires matched up and see if it works better.
Unmatched tires may be your main problem.
Also some times shifting to neutral or backing up a little helps on shifting out or onto 4W.
And remember on some they are not made for 4W use on dry payment.
