Need Fiero info...

I'm looking into a new project car, and the Fiero is one of them, can anyone point me to all the basic info about these cars, such as years made, sub models, engines, stock hp and tq, etc.

Re: Need Fiero info...

The Fiero was made from 1984-1988. The 1984 came only with a 2.5L four cylinder engine @91 HP. These were the weakest engine as many had connecting rod failures associated with low oil volume. In 1985-1988 the 2.5L engine was improved and produced 92 HP. 1985-1988 also had an optional 2.8L V6 which produced 135-140 HP depending on where it was measured in the rpm band.

Transmission available were the 125T three speed automatic or a four or five speed manual. The 1986-88 GT models had a "fastback" design, with the late 86 models offered a five speed Getrag manual as the base manual transmission.

1984 had an econo coupe, Sport, SE and Pace Car replica.
1985 had an econo coupe, Sport, SE (four and six cylinder) and GT
1986 had an econo coupe, Sport, SE (four and six cylinder) and GT
1987 the samemodels as 86
1988 had a coupe, coupe Formula (V6) and GT

The 1988 had upgraded the suspension and is considered the best of the Fieros, although, since the Fiero production ceased in 1988, there was limited production of the cars and many parts may be hard to come by or may be pricey.

Since all Fieros are ~20 years old, most may have out lived their life expectency and are high milage vehicles that require some maintenance. There still are many nice Fieros out there that have been well maintained and come up for sale.

There are several options for engine replacements: 3.1L, 3.4L, 3800, 3800 SC. 4.9 Cadillac V8 www.thefierofactory.com , or various small block chevy V8s www.v8archie.com
