electrical I think

Does anybody know why my dash lights would go out all of a sudden, even my temp, gas, and speedo don't work. Also my lights to radio except the lcd are out and heater lights are out. Already changed fuses and still no lights. Could it possibly be my headlight switch dimmer control?

Re: electrical I think

Dimmer could be a good call. Also, recheck the fuses again. Did you get the right one? Is there power accross the fuse?

Re: electrical I think

Unfortunately, many are plagued by this problem. Fixes range from banging on the dash to pulling the IOD fuse which resets the body computer to resoldering connections on the back of the instrument cluster. I found these threads by typing " caravan instruments and dash lights out" in the search function at top right. Read through them and you'll get the general idea. Re: electrical I think

RIP: You were talking about the IOD being undre the hood. I was just wondering if 1992's have them? If so where would they be? The only thing beside and above the battery are 4 pull apart connectors which are not labeled.

Re: electrical I think

Don't know. I've seen references to BCMs or BCCs on 92s so I would think it has an IOD fuse. May be labeled "memory". Did you check the fuse panel under the dash on the left? If you don't get an answer post a new thread and ask where it is.

Disconnecting the battery a few minutes accomplishes the same thing. Just remember to disconnect and reconnect the negative terminal first. Be aware that disconnecting the battery also erases the transmission controller memory (only 4 spd tranny) so your transmission will have to "relearn" shift patterns and schedules. On rare occasions this has created serious problems. You may experience slow or erratic shifting for a few days. Do what you can to find the fuse first.

Re: electrical I think

Good news. Hope the gauges are working too. If it keeps happening check the connection at the BCM for corrosion. If that's good you may need a new BCM. They cost around $200-$300 or cheaper at a junk yard.
