Question Odometer went blank

I have a 98 Malibu 3.1 v6 with about 130,000 miles. My odomoter just went blank about 2-3 days ago. All my gages are working fine but the odometer is blank. Does not show which gear its in, the miles or trip miles just blank! Any ideals on whats going on and do you think its not recording my miles right now?

Re: Odometer went blank

This happened in my sister's '99 buick. One of her friends checked it out, found that part of the instrument cluster non-serviceable. Maybe the LCD can be replaced, or you might need to get a whole new cluster.

Re: Odometer went blank

Might be cheaper to pick up a used Instrument Cluster rather than looking into repairing the one you have. Ive seen them go as cheap as $10 on Ebay plus shipping.

Re: Odometer went blank

I would agree with the ^ posts. There is a how-to for removing the cluster at www.malibuclub.ca, that might lend some insight if you get stuck.

Good luck
