why

why do i have to spend so much money, i just spent about $105 on movies. sure they're good movies but i just splurged half my weekly allowance for food and gas (although i had extra because i don't spend it all). I bought: Donnie Darko, Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, Office Space, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and equilibrium. it's because my friend is such an impulse buyer, it kind of rubs off on you when you're around him.

That's not my biggest impulse buy though, i'd have to say the biggest impulse buying i've done was when i went to europe, i spend 700 euros on everything from souvenirs to food, etc. a big impulse buy was the swatch i'm wearing on my wrist right now, a swiss army knife, i bought over $100 worth of beer steins, and bought a bunch of stuff at the Swarovsky chrystal gallery in austria.

any big impulse buyers out there, i'm sure someone has bought a car "just because".

Re: why

I do that all the time bro. I bought my trans am on a whim one afternoon, paid in cash, got it home and realized it was a POS haha.

The other day I got a PSP for $200 than went out and spent $77 on a 1 gig card and a game. Really didn't need to spend the money right now.

Last week spent $260 at Marshalls buying new stuff for the house that we didn't really need. The wife is a impulse buyer too so when we go shopping together we're guarenteed to walk out minus a few hundred dollars. The next day you'll hear me saying, why the hell did we buy this crap.

Re: why

The fact that you made a thread realizing what a dumbass you are for spending all your money on stupid shit instead of taking control of your spending habits in the first place makes this a lame thread with an even lamer title.

Re: why

If you've got the money and your bills are paid, buy some stuff and enjoy it.

But if you are spending your bill money or using a credit card, develop some self discipline.

not really, i didn't spend ALL my money, i don't have bills to pay, i don't have a family to support, i already bought all my food for the week, the only other purchase i have is gas tomorrow. my spending habbits are near perfect, i've got a budget and i usually stick to it, except for some times like these when i spend more than i budgeted for but i always have extra money at the end of the week to make up for impulse buying like this. i'm not going into debt, and i'm not risking missing any payments on anything so i don't see how i don't have my spending habbits under control, i was just realizing that i spent alot of money on movies and i just have to adjust my spending for the next little while accordingly, it just means i won't be eating as well as normal, which is perfectly fine.

Re: why

Shit I've just a shit load of money in the past few months. Back in November I bought a laptop, and put a decent amount down on my car, this month I moved into a new place. Decided I needed to new bedroom furniture(which I did, but it wasn't exactly a necessity) and so besides rent I'll have a car payment starting next month. Still have a bunch of things to by in ways of cleaning supplies. Oh yea, and I've had weddings and showers of all sorts out the ass too.

I'll feel better after the next few months roll by and everything more normal.

Re: why

I'm an impulse buyer if I know I dont have to worry about anything. As of right now though I plan on buying a new truck, so I'm saving as much money as possible to drop into it. I just graduated in '06 and got a good job making 10.56 an hour currently. I want to go to Wyotech in a few years, but because it's only one year I figured I could stick around, mature a little bit, and of course have some fun with the friends still. I spent a lot of money on movies at times too but try to keep it down now.

Re: why

Im an impulse buyer. I love toys. For example in the past few months I bought a new gps for my car, a new radar detector, a new phone that does almost as much crap as my computer, and a new multitrack recorder...do i need these things? Nope, but they make me happy so why the hell not.

Oh and when the tax money comes back....its bike time!

Re: why

this summer won't have many impulse buys, i'll be buying stuff for an appartment, paying off university debts (to my parents, but it's only if i have money, i can pay them after i'm done if i have to, and it's only $4000 for this year), and hopefully buying a boat. the boat is the only purchase i'm really looking foreward to buying, i nice racing single from Hudson, haven't thought about colors yet. it'll be the most valuable thing i own if i end up buying it.

this is pretty off topic but anyways, my dad is thinking of buying a small sailboat, a lazer 2 (small boat, used in many competitions, can be manned by 1 or 2 people), and i'm thinking of buying a racing shell. so something i'd really like to do is go up to the cottage, wake up early, row for a few hours, once it gets too choppy i'll take the sailboat out, sail for a few hours, then once the water calms down i bring the sailboat back in, take out the single and row for a few more hours. it would be incredibly relaxing to take a week off of work, family, everything, and just spend a week all to myself rowing and sailing, not to mention it would really help my weight loss goals to drop down to the lightweight class. [/off topic]

Re: why

I spent a shitload this week. Eight grand for property taxes. Nothing impulsive about it - compulsive yes, impulsive no.

I'm not much of an impulse buyer. My wife and I determine what we want to buy and wait for the right deal to be made. Got our eyes on a pair of these http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/...19/0/home.aspx now its just a matter of haggling prices.
