1994 Crown Vic

I have a 94 Crown vic, that will not shift out of park. The brake lights do not work, as well as the turn signals. I know how to get it to shift out of park, but I am looking to fix this, especially since I live around Atlanta and it is definetly not safe to drive without brake lights!! What could be the cause of this, and how do I fix it. If anyone can give me step by step instructions, I would be very grateful. Thank you!!

Re: 1994 Crown Vic

Disconnect battery ground cable and disconnect wires at switch connector. This switch is located on the brake pedal up under the dash. Good luck.
Stop Lamp Switch Replacement

Remove hairpin retainer and slide stop light switch, pushrod, nylon washers and bushings away from brake pedal, and remove switch.
Reverse procedure to install.

Re: 1994 Crown Vic

TURN SIGNALS - Auto Zone carries a replacement T/S switch. It's easy to change.

THIS IS FOR THE MULTI-FUNCTION TYPE SWITCH (W/Turn sigs, Wipers, headlight dimmer, hazard flashers)

1. Remove 4 Phillips head screws from lower cover below steering wheel
2. unscrew tilt lever (if equipped) and remove
3. GENTLY lift the upper portion of the steering wheel cover,,
4. Look in through the opening, you should find 2 brass colored torx head bolts that point toward the center of the steering column. Remove and save these.
5. GENTLY pull the T/S switch away from the column, (the hazard flasher button may need to be coaxed out too) and carefully unplug the (2) wiring harnesses - NOTE: they have slip over retaining clips, look at your new switch for the lock points or have the parts man show them to you
6. Installation is reverse order. Shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes.

If you don't have this type switch, the parts store should be able to help you with the R&R procedure.
