Re: 1992 marquis Lights Out
You have a burnt brown wire on your large plug harness to your headlight switch and a bad headlight switch caused it. Ford sells the large plugin harness for about $14 and the switch you can get anywhere. The harness will come with new wires, disgard the ones that are not bad on your harness by pushing the little platic tab and pulling the wire out. Cut the bad wire and use a quick splice to connect it to the new wire that is in the harness. Mark all the wires so you don't get mixed up, before you start. To start pull off the long fake wood trim and remove the plate under the dash. take the screws out of the speed limit cover and unplug the clock and remove. PUt the car into low gear to get the cover out. look under the dash and push up on the spring tab on the bottom of the switch to remove the knob for the lights. take the two screws out holding the switch in. Remove all three plugs and goto work on the wires. You must have the harness unplugged to get to the little tab to remove the wires. use a pointed object like an awl. Good luck.
