91 ES300 No start
figured id post this in here since it has the same motor as the camry...
Anyways, im working on my neighbors car and all he told me was to replace the fuel pump and it should start. Well i get that all in and try to start it and i have no spark. so now i tell him to go get a distributor, and now i DO have spark after the new one, but the car still wont start. any sensors or any other ideas as to what i should look for? TIA, Bryan

Re: 91 ES300 No start
Check cold start valve and injector.
Check plugs for worn electrodes (old), fuel contamination (leaking injectors). Check spark for quality (hot blue spark, not yellow) Check fuel filter and pressure regulator. Check engine compression. Check vacuum hoses for connection and leaks. Check Engine coolant temperature sensor.

Re: 91 ES300 No start
All that plus are you sure you clocked the distributor correctly? Check timing.

First of all, it's best to start your own new thread for something like this, with a title that will draw the attention you need. That said, assuming you have checked all the bulbs, first check the brake light switch at the pedal. If that checks out OK, move on to the loom of wires inside the trunk, by the driver's side trunk hinge. Open the loom and check for broken or frayed wires. Repair as necessary. That loom experiences a lot of flexing as the trunk is constantly opened and closed. Eventually, the wires break and fray, especially as the car ages. Mike |
