WIP MFH Ferrari 512S Coda Longa 60 Red Years

Hello to everybody,
As I have to build this car for a customer, here's another WIP........
(Yes, one more....... )
I started with the different parts making up the engine.
All parts were glued together using 5 minutes epoxy, then the parts were primed (Gray Automotive primer) and painted using the excellent Modelmaster Metalizer's in different shades.
I know, when viewing the pictures, you should think the parts are still natural metal.....That's why I say those paints are really "Excellent"
Here are the pictures, the parts are only painted, with an airbrush, without weathering:

Here is the engine block:

The Gearbox:

The Cam covers (? is this correct ?):

Different pieces, fuel pump (holes were drilled), part on the gear box....etc:

The distributer head was drilled using an 0,4mm drill to accept the wiring, as on the cam covers.
It was only primed, as this part should be painted black:

Next in a few minutes.....
Thank you.

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 512S Coda Longa 60 Red Years

Here we go again........
I then made a wash of black oil paint, diluted with Zippo fuel:
The block:

The Gearbox:

The Cam Covers (?):

I think it is the oil pump and the fuel distributor.....?:

The Block with the oil pump (?) added, missing a small bridge between the to parts (part was molded with it, but I removed it, drilled the holes and will Iwill replace it with a piece of piano wire)
Cam covers were also glued in place:

Other side of the block. I still have to pick up all the bolts with chrome silver from Modelmaster, and paint the round arrivals for the spark plug wires in black:

The Gearbox with it's wash, and the link box installed. Here you can see a slightly difference in colors between the pieces:

Here are 2 pictures from the engine parts.
I have to make all the wiring, picking up the nuts and bolts, make some nuts missing on the gerabox, and so on.......

Voilà, c'est tout, that's all for tonight.
Hope you like this (small) begining......?
As always, I'm open to criticism, idea's and questions of course (sorry for my bad English)
Please enjoy......!

Cheers,

Jamme

The wash certainly makes the difference on these parts. I used to use Zippo for thinning paints long ago. After this wip, I will prob use it again now. Looking forward to more.

I thought those were white metal parts until I read they were painted!
Loved the washes also.
Like your work so far... don't keep us waiting long for updates

Thanks to everybody for the nice comments.
Originally, the parts are in White Metal, but the pictures you see here, are with the parts painted, as I explained earlier.

Thank You once again.

Cheers,

Jamme

J-M, I hate you!

Great job on painting that engine. It now looks more real metal than the original MFH part

Great job. I guess is ever a temptation to leave the MFH in bare metal, better and more convincin your painted stuff. Can't wait to see wired.

How about the rims in the 512S? The Hiro 512BB LM have very small rims/tyres compared with the 1/1 stuff and with other kits of the same subj.

Very nice start! I have been using the Metalizer paints with great results for years. They do look amazingly realistic when painted and buffed out. The wash looks very realistic also! Keep up the ood work.

Re: WIP MFH Ferrari 512S Coda Longa 60 Red Years

Hello to everybody,
Thanks for the really nice comments.
That and the fact that a part of the best modellers on this forum, and worlwide known are watching my wip is really stimulating.......!
Ohhhh, ohhhhh....
OK had a little time today to work on the engine....
I remade the link between the to oil exchangers (?) with a piano wire, added the oil filter (needs a decal on it, maybe?):

I put some nuts and bolts on the gearbox, they are hardly to see......:

I also begun the ignition wiring, and put it in place:
4 pictures from it:

So that's all for tonight.
Hope you still enjoy it?
Waiting, for comments, criticism, and of course, if you have questions........you know the way.
Thank you once again.
Cheers,

Jamme
