Horn does not work

my 99 S10 had an intermittent horn problem, now it does not work at all, the fuse is good, i do not hear a click or anything when i press on the steering wheel. at this point i think that the center of the steering wheel needs to come off but i am worried about the airbag, any thoughts thanks, i did wire the horn direct to see if it works and it does

Re: Horn does not work

Do you have power at the horn when the button is pressed? If no, trace backwards. Some models have a horn relay. I am pretty sure your S10 has one. Check component locator to see if you do. If you do, ensure it is working properly. If it is, it would have to be the horn contact in the steering column. Air bags are tricky since they can employ,, with static electricity, even though the battery is disconnected. If you have never done one, it may be a safe bet to take it to someone who has because they are not cheap tp repalce either.
