Po Po....

I got pulled over by a cop today because he thought I was speeding, he didnt clock me. i was going the opposit way as he, and he turned around and pulled me over. He asked how fast I was going, and I told him around 55, he thought I was doing around 65, which i probly was, if not - faster, in a 40. I don't see why they should be able to pull you over for speeding unless they clock you. Bunch of bull if ya ask me.

Re: Po Po....

Almost goes hand in hand with the reckless driving law. Ofcourse there's no device to tell a cop if you're driving recklessly, they just use human senses. So its bound to happen, did you get ticketed?

Re: Po Po....

Hmmm, I think you might be able to have that one overturned. I mean he had no official reading, and come on, who the hell can tell the difference between 45 and 55 PLUS driving the other way? Its either that or pay the tickets and still have your parents find out, lol.

Re: Po Po....

Yea, Im thinking about just paying it, Its only 99, not near as bad as my last one. but my step dad would, not sure, but yea, if he knew about the last few, In 2 years, ive had 3 speeding tickets, including this one, 93 in a 65 was the worst. I definetly need ta slow down, but yesterday, i thought I was gonna be late for work, for a few other reasons, but only wound up being 20 seconds late, and was pulled over right in fron of my work, yea.

So you'd rather pay a bigger fine and put points on your lisence and raise your insurance and have your parents find out later on, rather than on a court date?

Re: Po Po....

South Dakota doesn't have the points system as far as I can tell. Inssurance company hasn't found out about any tickets except the first, which was unsafe lane change or failure to take first available lane, resulting in me side swiping a lady that I didnt see. That and my roll over (no ticket though - just a totaled out grand am) were the only ones my insurance company have seen. Yea, my history with cars...kinda sucks. My step dad knows about the first ticket (the flane change one) and my mom knows about all but this last one.

So he wrote you for 55. Case closed, probably not worth fighting.

Also, moved to traffic

Re: Po Po....

you have no chance of winning if you told the cop you were doing 55 in a 45, then turn up in court and fight the ticket. you've already admitted, you think they're going to let you off for some reason?

I don't recall ever saying or implying anything like that. With the points system, would they mail something to you and let you know they changed and what you have, whenever you got a ticket. Thanks Fres, I was looking for this but couldnt find it.

Re: Po Po....

Is it better to play dumb and say you have no clue why you were pulled over or not?

Not after you admitted to the officer that you were going 55 in a 40.

In VA, they don't mail you anything unless your license is in danger of being suspended. You can check at your motor vehicle department or licensing department, they should be able to tell you how many points you have.

I'm not talking about this one. For future reference is more what I was thinking about.
