Engine Idols high 2-2.5 RPM

Hi,

I have a 2001 SL1... Sometimes my engine will idol higher than normal. This doesn't happy everyday and I haven't found any specific circumstance that may be causing it to idol high. When it does happen, it's when i'm in Neutral or Park. It idols about 2 to 2.5 rpm when it's idoling high.

Re: Engine Idols high 2-2.5 RPM

My '99 SW! had the idle go high, but only to 1400 or so.
The intake gasket went bad, allowing mmore air in, so the computer matched the fuel to the air.
I used "throttle body cleaner" to check the gasket. Just spray a little around the intake gasket, with the engine running. A leak will pull the revs up. I understand #1 cylinder is usually the 1st to go. (by the fan belt) Mine also looked bad at #4, which if it had gone would have let coolant into the cylinder.
I had the shop change mine. It looked like a pain to change. In the shop I noticed they removed the top motor mount. Maybe this allows the engine to be pulled forward for more access to the gasket.
