Question ets light will this cause engine light to be on

Me ets light is on,I hooked up my mac?otc scanner to the car and it shows no stored fault codes yet the engine light is on.I clear all codes anyways and the light is still on.I know the ets is working I think there is a problem with the parking brake to keep the ets off light on all the time but that shouldnt cause the engine light to be on or will it?Any idea what in the parking brake will cause the ets light to be on?Thank youopcorn:

this have the ETS button on the shifter ?

Hard to say why the light would still be on,
unless the cable is stuck enough to keep it from shutting off.

Your scanner might not read those ABS/trans codes too

Yes it has the shifter button, with my scanner hooked up I can see the button is working the scanner reads on then off as I push the button. The traction control system is somthing I dont have a lot of experience with Im just going off what I read thats why I think it has to do with the e brake.I cant understand why my engine light is on unless the ets is putting it on.What do you think?

What type of scanner, Mac?

So its not throwing any DTC's?

If you pulled the ebrake to hard you could have damged something in the rear,
but I almost bet its one of your wheel hub sensors or something in the trans sticking.
And when the ebrake has a malfunction the "brake" light would also be illuminated.

Double check your fuses for the ETC .
I think thiers more then one fuse too that's on that circuit.

And the engine light could also be another problem.
Both of which your scanner might not read those specific codes, which you need to identify the troubles.

Re: ets light will this cause engine light to be on

Yes I have a mac scanner,The e brake works fine,I pulled the rear drums and all is good there. The hub sensors must be the same ones used for the abs right? As I said I havent driven it enough to say for sure but the one time I did drive it the abs light came on.It is off now but maybe if they share the sensor thats the problem with the ets light.I just cant understand why my motor light is on.The only reason for it to come on is if the ecm detects a problem and if it does it stores a code and there are none.I disconected the battery and cleared the codes with my scanner even though ther were none and it is still on.Usualle if there is a problem and you do that the light will go out for at least a few seconds then come back on.

Re: ets light will this cause engine light to be on

As I said your mac scanner probly doesnt read ABS codes.
And this might need the GM techscanner to figure it out if its a ECM/PCM/ABS error.

But most likly you have a wheel hub/speed sensor going out,
and you need an ABS scanner to figure out which one it is.

Exactly which mac scanner do you have?

Re: ets light will this cause engine light to be on

I have the mac/otc enhanced,I do have the abs cartrage and the scanner read that the front drivers wheel speed & vibration code was thrown.Does the ets use this sensor for sure?If so maybe thats the problem.I will get some plates for it soon so I can drive it more to get a better idea whats wrong.I did a tranny filter today and I found on the valve body the small metal tube was disconected.I am hoping thats why the car shifts hard.Ill keep you posted.

That front drivers wheel speed code is most likly your problems then,
you should have said that in the first place.

And No thier should not be any tubes hanging loose when you drop the pan. That is probly the culprit for the hard shifts too.
