LOUD Squeel/HISS, when starting car in Cold
I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 V6, with 111,117K Miles on it. When is start my car in the cold it makes a loud Squeel/hiss as soon as the engine fires, then stops immediately. What could this be, any help appreciated, thanks.

Re: LOUD Squeel/HISS, when starting car in Cold
Take the serp belt off and try it. If the noise doens't occur, then it's a belt driven accessory/pulley making the noise. If it's still there, it's hard to diagnose without hearing it. You'll have to try to narrow it down to what area the sound is coming from.

it sounds like its coming from the drivers side left part of the engine, towards the bottom

Most likely it's your starter staying engaged in the flywheel after the engine starts. This causes the starter drive to spin too rapidly, causing the squealing noise. I believe a new starter is in order.
