Re: fuel problem
My father is having a similar problem with clicking sounds under the hood, and a tracker that won't start without injecting something into it mannually. I've done some searching and most seem to think they need to replace the ECU/ECM. We don't think it is a fuel pump problem either since it runs fine once it is started... any other thoughts?
My fathers description of whats happening: The check engine light came on while I was driving. Still ran fine, until I shut it off. Then when you turn the key on, the fuel pump relay clicks (on and off) really fast, and it won't start. Out on the engine on the fuel injection plenum there is a cylindrical controller with wire connected to it that is also clicking. You can unplug it, and the clicking stops. The engine will run once you supply enough fuel manually to get it running (spraying lots of carburetor cleaner through intake). |

you may have to just your fuel relay..and even if it starts...but a weak fuel pump can drive you nuts if you put spray in it and starts don't mean the fuel pump isn't going out..you should have had it tested..good luck...

Re: fuel problem
This is a classic symptom of a bad ECM. Have it checked and repaired if necessary. Many, many people have thrown money away on fuel pumps and injectors when a $60 ECM repair fixes the problem.

Re: fuel problem
check your fuel filter, or just replace it. The pump in the gas tank is a big job and the original pump is a good one. Replacement pumps that are not O.E.M. are just not the same. Filters are cheap and last a long time if your tank is clean.
Also maybe repalce the relay for the pump, it's under the dash on the same bracket as the ECM. |
