cat delete?

what kinda gains are you looking at getting by gutting the catalytic converter? I was thinkin bout doing it just because i have nothing else to do when spring break rolls around and not really enough money to spend on any major upgrades... Is a bolt off/bolt on type thing or does it have to be cut out and welded back in?

thanx fellas.

Re: cat delete?

First of all what you want to do is illegal. Now that said gutting the cat will give you very little HP gain and you would have to install an O2 sensor simulator if you did otherwise you would continually get a CEL due to the fact that the computer could not read the proper O2 in the exhaust stream. If I were you I would purchase a new high flow cat. Less than $70 if you purchase a magnaflow. It will keep you legal, give you more flow and the not break the bank. Although you will have to have the old one cut off and the new one welded on. If you remove the exhaust you can have this done while it is out of the car.

Re: cat delete?

i was also looking into doing a down pipe... that would take car of the cat problem and boost flow decently... anybody have problems running an offroad pipe on the street?
