Car vs. bike videos

My friends and I have having an argument, which one is faster on a roadcourse, a car or a bike. I say it's the car because it has a lot more grip, they say that it's a bike because it accelerates faster. Anyways, I'm looking for some videos of cars vs bikes at a track, not some kids racing on the highway. If you know of any, please post it here.

Re: Car vs. bike videos

It REALLY depends on the bike and car, In 99% or better of the cases it is going to be the bike. They can handle amazing while achieving outstanding straight line speeds as well. A lot more often than not.........the bike.

Did you not watch the video mang?

R1 vs 911 Carrera 4. Not even a turbo, and the car beat the bike.

There are a lot of fast bikes out there (both straight line and in the bends), but they just cannot brake or corner like a car can. It's a proven fact.

Bikes are still fun though.

Dollar for dollar, bikes will usually win, at least against road cars, but most of that is because road cars are weighed down by things that bikes simply don't have, like spares... or roofs. Unfortunately there are not a whole lot of companies that produce extremely pure sports cars a prices comperable to a R1 or whatever they quickest bike is nowadays. I'm not talking Miatas here, I'm talking Ariel Atoms, the really hardcore stuff.

On the highest possible end, cars win hands down no questions asked. Compare Moto GP track times to F1 track times (yes, its the same circuit)-
Moto GP Shanghai lap record- 1' 59.318
F1 Shanghai lap record- 1' 32.238 (Michael Schumacher)

The F1 car blows the Moto GP bike away.

So in theory, throwing out money as a concern, cars are faster then bikes.
Throw in money, and a bike will win the majority of the time.
Throw in less then perfect weather, it goes back to the car.

Agreed.

Price wise... bikes are tops. I prefer cars though.

I did see the video. I do not want to get into an argument about things but I also take everything I see on Top Gear with a grain of salt. It seems like they like to compare things in an unfair way (which I am not saying that video was but often times question them) such as when the put the Stang agianst the Lotus Elise. And I do stand by my comment, far far more often a bike will win.

On a side not the R1 has 0-60 of 3.2? That seems very slow that bike.
