factory says a 4dr 4x4 weighs 5300lbs . who would be stupid enough to go for a drive on a frozen lake.

This is something that happens here every few years. I remember another car falling through years ago. It was in pretty much the same spot. People used to drive on it all the time but they waited until the ice was really thick.

Yea, people don't get how heavy a Blazer actually is. Small doesn't always mean light.

Hell I drove my blazer acrossed a lake w/about 8 to 10in. and the ice bearly cracked. of course I was givin her at about 70 lol. and it wasnt a very big lake.
