96 Saturn sc1..hood will not open

My son wrecked the car! anyways.... there is some minor front end damage. and moderate damge to teh fender. My problem...I am unable to open the hood. The cable is not boken. It just will not release. It is jammed. I have tried pushing the hood down while pulling the cable release. Hitting the hood, etc.. I am at my wits end. Any suggestions on how to open the hood?

Large flat head screw driver to pry it up while someone pulls the release. If the hood is damaged already, a little prying won't make it much worse.

Re: 96 Saturn sc1..hood will not open

yup..a large flat head screw would help...i was planning to replaced my saturn hood scoop since when i used to open the hood, scoops creates engine noise that is not appropriate..if your hood was totally damaged, proper replacement must be done..
