86 trans am
I have absolutely no nothing. No power what so ever. Batt is great (new). Told it could be a fusible link. Any ideas on what one or the color of? Bought it for my son and the man who owned has passed away. He was rebuilding. Ran great and then poof, nothing. No electricity going anywhere. Any ideas would be appreciated and checked. New starter, new steering column, new ignition, and again, new batt. Have tried two different ignition modules, not new but worked before. My son will be 18 in July and I hate giving him a car that won't even send an electrical current anywhere. Not even the radio, the dash, nothing. He's been waiting for the car for a year now, but as a mom I liked driving it until it just

Re: 86 trans am
There is a fusible link off of the starter that connects to a fuse panel. It should be a main power feed. Check there...it's red. You also might inspect/test the ignition switch. I have a feeling that the problem is most likely the ignition switch (happens fairly often) but make sure to check power feed too.
Good Luck, Sorry to hear about the problem. |

Re: 86 trans am
There are 2 or 3 fuseable links down by the starter in its harness. They look like big (black usually) horse pills about an inch long and 3/8" in diameter. If you figure out which one is bad, replace them all (in that harness).

Re: 86 trans am
Thank you very much for the info. As soon as it gets warmer out, I will replace all 3. I know there is a red, green and brown. The red one is real close to the engine.

Re: 86 trans am
LOL, never thought of the ground wire. It doesn't have any power going to anything. Brand new batt, it's in my van now. I should say that before it lost all power, there was a draw on the batt over night. The last time we tried to jump it, the batt sparked like no tomorrow, almost blew up the charger. Didn't remember all this until you brought up the ground wire.
