No headlights on 2001 Grand Prix
My 2001 Grand Prix headlights and DLR are not working, the fuse relay under the hood is OK, and the bulbs appear to be good. They do not work by switch or in darkness, but I can turn on the running lights and fog lights.
Any ideas? |

Re: No headlights on 2001 Grand Prix
Welcome to AF.
Check the headlamp circuit breaker at the instrument fuse box/panel by the glove box. Also, check the DRL fuse at the same fuse box. If fuses are good check 12 volts at each fuse socket to make sure it is present. The source is 12 volts from IGN 1 circuits (ignition switch) which feeds the voltage needed to the headlamp switch.

Re: No headlights on 2001 Grand Prix
Thanks for the welcome.
I tested the circuit breaker by the glove box, and it was ok, so I checked the voltage at that location, and had 12 volts. Could the actual headlight switch or dim/bright switch cause this problem? |

Re: No headlights on 2001 Grand Prix
I would check the headlight switch next. Check for 12 volts at the input.

Re: No headlights on 2001 Grand Prix
Thankyou everyone, who responded. I tracked the problem finally to the multi-function switch (turn signal, bright/dim). It had shorted inside and let no current through to the lights.
