Sea Foam

After reading so many good things about Sea Foam I decided to buy some. I used it in my 1997 LeSabre and also my 1991 Toyota Camry.
The LeSabre now has the check engine light on (which sucks because I was doing this to clean the engine before taking it to be smogged. The light came on as soon as I restarted it), and the Camry refuses to start up again after letting the product sit in it for 5 minutes. Can anyone give me some advice on these problems?

edit: The Camry is O.K. now . I just had a little moisture in the distributor cap from rinsing the engine.

Re: Sea Foam

I put Seafoam in my 97 when I first got it. When I started it up, it idled really rough for 5-10 minutes. I cannot recall if my check engine light came on, but after a while it smoothed out and ran good. Maybe let it run for a while?

I've put about 100 mi. on it so far. I'll be taking it in to see what code shows up this weekend.

Re: Sea Foam

I'd say it's probably a mis-fire code.. I use seafoam every 6 months or so. I put 1/3 in the oil, 1/3 in the fuel tank, and 1/3 gets sucked in the intake.. Good stuff as long as you don't use it too much...or so I've heard.

Re: Sea Foam

Just thought I'd follow up. The check engine light turned off last night coming home from work. I had put about 150 miles on the car.
Now that I've done the seafoam treatment and removed and cleaned my egr valve I'm going to take it back for a re-smog. Any last ideas for lowering my N0 emmissions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Sea Foam

NOx emmisions are kept under control by the EGR system. High NOx levels indicate high combustion chamber temperatures.
