First car, modded Econoline E250

Hello everyone, as you can see, this is my first post. I am interested in buying a used modded Econoline E250. It was previously owned by a band. This is my first car and I have no idea how to approach this. I have a few questions: what is the insurance going to be like for a vehicle like this (I am 17 years old), I am buying this vehicle for 2K, this seems like a good deal, but we will see with the presale inspection, and can I own a vehicle in a trustee acount in virginia? All help is appreciated.

P.S. Is there any laws against cow catchers in virginia?

As far as the amount of insurance to pay, it's based on the worth of the vehicle. Without other information (age of veh, etc) can't say for certain. A good site to go to is www.progressive.com, where they'll give you numerous quotes from different companies in addition to their own.

I live in VA, and to my knowledge there isn't a law against cowcatchers (or bull bars, bumper extensions, 'roo bars, call them what you will) except that no part of the addition can block the headlight beams.

You say: "...can I own a vehicle in a trustee acount in virginia?"
By this I'm thinking you are considering purchasing the vehicle from the estate of someone who has died. If so, no problem, it's just that you'll be dealing with the lawyer or executor of the will instead of the person that owns it. You might be getting a hell of a deal.

Keep in mind when you're driving this full size van that it's not a race car/truck, and will accelerate, stop, and corner much worse than the average car (my family had a full size van when I was learning to drive). You'll also want to have some friends along to help pay for gas.

I think in VA you can own a vehicle, even though you may not be old enough to actually drive it yet although I'm not sure. Check with DMV, they'll let you know. Even if you can own the vehicle, it might be better to have your parents on the title, since insurance will be high if you have it on your own.
