Re: need good parts site for 83 3/4 ton p/u

well, i am actually in the middle of restoring a 73 chevy truck, which is the same as yours on the outside except the front clip is different, so i have learned a lot about what can exchange with what. basically, sadly for me, a lot of parts that they made for the 73, or first year they made that body style, were only made then; such as many interior parts and switches like the wipers and all that good 'ol crap. i think that there are about 4 or 5 years that are the same as your truck, so any junkyard will have a crapload of parts. this really helps keep the cost down when doing a frame up or just replacing a broken switch or something. whatever you do, don't buy from JC Whitney, you'll regret that in the end. I was gonna suggest JMC but noticed you already knew about it. i dont know of any other such catalog out there that is anywhere near as complete as thiers. these trucks aren't accepted as "classic" yet, so there arent a whole lot of restoration catalogues out there for them. i would just try google or check out a few local junkyards. they always have a whole row of them. if you need help, theres always some hicks out there that know how to take out a windshield or can help pry off a rusted cylinder head or something.
