The Lights On But Nobodys Home

My wifes 98 windstar 3.8l check engine light is on and for what reason i dont know. The vehicle is running absolutely wonderful. Does the check engine light just automatically come on at a given milege or something???????

It doesn't necessarily come on at a specific mileage. Something is wrong. You should take it to Autozone and they can pull a code. THey may or may not be able to tell you what it is. It could be a number of things. Might be emissions related, like 02 sensor or EGR valve, etc. You might do a search here on the forum to see what you find. Best of luck
