Cruise Control Not working
Hey! new to the forum. Lots of Great Info.
Wondering if anyone could advise on what else i can check before taking the car to a shop. Checked all fusing, all is good. Not sure what else i can do. Cruise control suddenly stopped working. Does not show on dash either. Its been wicked cold so i'm wondering if something got fried. Heated seat also stopped working. (not related it stopped a while ago) Checked fusing and toggle switch and it appears to be ok. I'm probably not going to be able to fix it myself but I still want to know what it may be. Thanks in advace |

Re: Cruise Control Not working
If the fuses are ok, check the brake lights for proper operation. These cars are known for multifunction switch issues, and the brakelights are fed power through it. If they aren't working, the cruise won't either. Regretfully, if everything is good in the brakelamps, the testing proceedure is pretty involved, and unless you are really good at circuit testing, is beyond most DIY abilities.

Re: Cruise Control Not working
as for your heated seat, the elements tend to go bad occasionally. Unfortunately you will have to replace the seat cover as its built into it and it aint cheap. I was able to negotiate with the dealer when mine crapped out anmd he knocked off 200$

Re: Cruise Control Not working
thanks guys.
Really sucks about the heated seat not working. That leather is like a rock in this cold . Oh! well. As far as the cruise. I'll check the brake lights asap Thanks for your advice |

OK, I seem to be resurrecting an old post, but I've just encountered this problem. I was driving along with the cruise set at 60 and it suddenly started to decelerate. The "cruise" light was still on, but it wasn't working. This actually happened over the winter, but I finally got to looking at it today. Fuses are good, cable to the throttle is good, haven't been able to check the brake light switch, but my brake lights work.
I'll be checking the brake light switch when I have an "assistant" to apply the brakes while I check the voltage. If that turns out that the brake light switch is good, is there somewhere that I can find schematics for the control unit? I do electronics for a living, so circuit checking won't be a problem as long as I have the right drawings.

BTW, glad I finally found this place. I used to belong to another Impala forum, but it seems to have died.
