Saturn Known For Starter Issues?
This is the second starter I replaced on my 99 SL1. The car will not turn over when it gets warm. Cold starting is not an issue, leave it sit for a while and it will start right up. A local starter rebuild business says these starters are known for this to happen. Seems a bad spot forms on the armature. tapping it with a hammer or something may move it just enough to get past the dead spot.

Re: Saturn Known For Starter Issues?
It's more likely the solenoid contacts. Saturn starters are pretty reliable, not the rebuilder that you got you last starter from may not be so good.
I just don't buy the dead-spot-on-the-armature theory. |
