how do I remove the engine computer?
its a 1993 grand cherokee laredo 4.0 L6. I was wondering if there were any diagrams or whatever to tell me how to remove the PCM. I know where its at, just don't know how to remove it.

Re: how do I remove the engine computer?
mine is behind your coolant return tank on the outer firewall, just take the tank out, remove the plastic dust covor, then unscrew it. there are 3 screws on mine. and there should be 3 plug ins, just remember the order they were plugged in

Re: how do I remove the engine computer?
The phillips screws only remove a cover off the front you don't have to concern yourself with. I think it's 8 mm socket you need to remove the pcm itself from the firewall. There is only one large multipin connector held in with a bolt on mine.
Disco your battery before you start.

Re: how do I remove the engine computer?
i diddnt have screws on my dust covor , but i had bolts, 8mm sounds right but with phillips instrts in mine, and yes disconnect the battery before you take it off. THEN to take all power out of the system touch the hot wire tothe frame or body so you dont have juice running through the computer.
