VCR to Computer

Is there a way i can hook up a VCR to my computer? I am taking a Telecourse at my college, so my entire semester's lectures are on VHS. (stupid school, I pay them enough money, can't give me DVD's?)

Re: VCR to Computer

im unsure of the name but there is a device that lets u connect vcr's, video cameras, etc to a computer. it has RCA inputs on it. looks sort of like a external hard drive.

Re: VCR to Computer

mm, ok, forget about it then. i'm not gonna buy that card. I figured it'd be easier to watch them in my room rather than to go to the living room TV.

Re: VCR to Computer

Depends on the tv, its easier for me to hook my xbox to my computer because my monitor gets better picture than my tv, but thats what I get for having a 20 year old tv too.

Monitors generally get better resolution than televisions... however devices like DVD players, and video game players only output as good of resolution as a television gets. (525 for standard NTSC or 1080 for high definition.)

My computer monitor (which is a pretty nice one) has of 1600 X 1200 with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Compared to my HD television set, 1920 by 1080 with a 16x9 aspect ratio.

The other bit that plays an important role is the refresh rate. My computer draws a new picture on the monitor 75 times every second. My television only redraws the picture 30 times a second.

neither my monitor nor my tv are really great. I have a 20 year old 15 or 17 inch tv, and an 8 or 9 year old 17 inch crt monitor. Yeah the monitor hets better picture than my tv, but both still suck.
