Spoilers
Whats the point of having rear spoilers on a front wheel drive car? Because the spoiler pushes down on the back of the car, wouldnt this only be useful if it was rear wheel drive and you wanted more weight on the back for better traction?

There would not be any reason to have one but for looks. If I were you I would look at getting an OEM wing if you are thinking about getting a wing.

Well i already have an oe spoiler, im pretty sure it does nothing because its complete horizontal, and i hear if you want it to work it needs to be tilted right.... but it seems like ive seen some front wheel drive dragsters with the racing spoilers, i dont really get it.

Its my understanding that the rear spoilers that have no spant (ie. the light spoiler that comes as a couple hundred dollar option on new civics) really dont do sh!t, except look kinda cool.
you can remold that spoiler to save yourself some money from a drag or wing. the whole idea of downforce, as you know, is stability and traction. In front wheel drive cars, until you are going 100+, I believe the back wheels have enough to keep them from fishtailing, essentially. For the most part, though...no, they dont do jack

So the biblical scholars mis-translated the Hebrew word for "young woman" into the Greek word for "virgin," which was a pretty easy mistake to make, since there is only a subtle difference in the spelling. But back then it was the "virgin" that caught people's attention. It's not every day a virgin conceives and bears a son. So you keep that for a couple of hundred years, and the nexy thing you know, you have the Roman Catholic church. -Snatch |

Actually, spoilers don't create downforce, that's what most people call a wing. A spoiler is supposed to reduce drag, making the car more aerodynamic and more stable at high speeds, albeit some are made only with looks in mind, an effective spoiler is useful on a FWD car.

I honestly dont think we can go fast enough in our Hondas for a spoilers purpose to take effect. They are simply for a sporty look if you ask me!!

remember the color changing Honda ACR in super street a long time ago. they said that the spoiler on that thing was actually functional when it hit top speeds.
