1999 bravada tune-up

Can the average mechanic do a tune-up on a 99 bravada? Looking at the engine the plugs look really tricky to get to. Any directions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Local shop says 4 hrs. @ 75 an hour plus parts Don't have that in the budget right now.

Re: 1999 bravada tune-up

yes a person with average mechanical skills can do a regular tune up on these trucks which would consist of plugs, wires (only if they are worn/damaged), cap, rotor, air filter, pcv valve, and fuel filter.
the most time consuming thing in the tune up is the plugs. easiest way to get to them is to pull the front wheels off and go through the plastic fender liner. the steering shaft needs to be swung up and out of the way to access the #3 (center)plug on the drivers side. use only ac delco platinum plugs #41-932. heres a thread with pics that will help;

everything should take an hr or so to do.

I didn't think the 99 bravada had a cap & rotor.

Re: 1999 bravada tune-up

the distributor still uses a traditional cap and rotor.
