Idler Arm Replacement 86 yoda Pickup
Hey, any advice/help appreciated. I have a worn idler arm that needs replacing. I am not a mechanic but have changed waterpumps, engines, transmissions and did brakes etc before with the older like 70 vehicles.
How difficult is it to change the idler arm on my 86 toyo pickup. It is only the 3 bolts onto the frame and the steering linkage connect. Do I really need a torque wrench or is tight good enough? Looks to me like you undo the arm bracket from the frame, then remove the cotter pin and nut from the linkage which should slide out as it is tapered and then put the new arm onto the linkage, rebolt it to the frame. Am I correct? Thanks in advance. Eric |

Do you have a repair manual? A good torque wrench is a good investment.
Check out autozone.com for a free repair guide to get a basic idea of what the job involves. |

You know you can rebuild those instead of replacing them.
