What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

Consumer Reports just did a story on the best tasting coffee among the chain fast food places that sell it. They picked McDonalds as having the best tasting coffee. Do you agree or do you go somewheres else for your coffee? Select your choice in the poll above and see what AF Consumers choose.
BTW I had McDonalds coffee last Fall and was not too pleased with it. It tasted like hot water with cream and sugar, not strong at all. I personally like Dunkin' Donuts. I never have tried Starbucks as there are only 2 or 3 in the local area way out of my way( two are in the downtown area). There are more planned for the area however, so maybe someday I'll try it.
I also like to make some coffee at home and take it with me, that way I can make it as strong as I want it, and it's a lot cheaper too.

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

Ahhh a thread so close to my heart.

hmmm lets see, I actually make my own and take it to work. But I drink it by the time I get there. Then I just go to a deli and get it. But out of those on the list, I have to say that Mcdonalds is not bad to be honest (as long as its in the morning and theres a lot of service. Otherwise its nasty tasting. I also like the flavor ones from Dunkin Donuts/711. Starbucks to me is okay, but I don't buy into that overhyped marketing/Yuppy crap.

TS out (getting his caffeine hit).

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

I have never found a place that comes close to coffee I make at the house. And I usually drink the 8 o clock bean columbian coffee which isnt exactly the most classy coffee in the world. Starbucks is too complicated and every other place just tastes like crap to me.

So that would explain why my coffee at McDonalds tasted so bad, i got it at 2 in the afternoon, after morning rush and the lunchbreak. It was slow at the time, Maybe someone decided to flush the coffee system and forgot to refill it giving me the rinse water
I also liked the Dunkacchinos by Dunkin' Donuts and got pissed the other day when Iwent through the drive thru and tried to order one. The employee informed me that they no longer make them as they needed the room in the machine to sell their new "White Hot Chocolate". WHAT I tried it and it's okay, kind of like drinking liquid marshmallows, but it's not a Dunkacchino!

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

I go to the Fresh Market and get good Kona or Jamaican Blue (not the expensive kind) and grind it there. So I make it at home every morning in my Mr. Coffee coffee pot. Years ago when I first met my wife I used to use a French Coffee Press, where you boil the water and pour into the press and then after a few minutes you push down on the dowel and it compresses the grindings down to the bottom and you pour the coffee out of the decanter. The decanter cracked though and the ones that size were too expensive to replace. The Mr. Coffee is much more convenient. Anyway, I drink two cups before I leave the house and then take a to-go cup with me and finish it before I get to work.

I like Starbucks mochas but there coffee tastes worse than McDonalds IMO. They think that making the coffee twice as strong as needed makes it better... wtf? My wife's best friend makes it this way too. I never drink coffee at his house because it's like instant barf/diuretic formula (he's one of those new age yuppie plays on the left side of the fence guys).... so yeah, double dose coffee does not equal better just makes you shit faster...

On special occasions I also enjoy Chocolate Cherry Kiss coffee at home (also, available at the Fresh Market). This is the only "flavored" coffee I will consume.

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

I've always wanted to try a French coffee press. From what i read, you get a better tasting cup of coffee. A couple of places around here sell one for around $20 - $25. Seen them on eBay too.
I also like espresso. I worked many years ago part time with a plumber friend helping him out on some jobs and we did a little old Italian lady's pipes in her house. She treated us to some espresso (LaVazza brand) and it was awesome. Funny thing is they serve it in these little cups that made me feel as if I was playing "tea time" with some dolls. That's not enough coffee for me I have a coffeemaker/espresso maker at home and every once in awhile I'll make a pot of the LaVazza espresso. But I got a giant size mug I found at my local dollar store for my coffee ( it's equal to at least 2 standard size cups.

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

I usually grab coffee at the engineering lounge at school (leonardo's aka leo's lounge, named after leonardo da vinci) and it's not bad, nothing great but it gets the job done and it's good enough that i can drink it black (fewer calories that way). although for taste, out of a fast food joint mind you, i like Tim Horton's coffee. if you go to canada, except for maybe british columbia, you'll see at least one in every single town, there'a a town of maybe 20,000 that has 5 or 6 of them.

yup.

Dunkin Donuts makes great coffee, atleast compared to Starbucks. A lot cheaper, too. Still, I have an espresso machine at home and use that. Even then, I drink tea over coffee. Indian brewed chai

We are supposed to get some of those restaurants in our area,(Syracuse,NY)maybe this year. (They have been saying that for a few years now, I guess they held back expansion plans until now.) Buffalo and I guess Rochester have them and we're the next logical stop on the Thruway. I have heard a lot of good things about them and their donuts from people who have visited there. Some say Tim Hortons could give Dunkin' Donuts a run for their money. I don't know, Krispy Kreme tried that 3 years ago. There was a big buildup before they arrived here. In fact non profit groups would travel an hour to neighboring Rochester ( the closest KK at the time) and buy up dozens and dozens of their donuts and then bring them back here to resell for $10/dozen.I didn't see the reasoning behind that as by the time they got back in town the donuts were cold and barely edible. When KK finally opened in town there was a big bash and soon after it all wore off, (maybe too the Atkins craze had some thing to add to it.) Now you drive by that place and either there is no cars in the parking lot or maybe one or two. I don't know how they can stay in business, they did lay off over half their staff a few months after opening. I think one reason they may still be open is their restaurant is also a production kitchen and they make donuts for local convenience stores as well. You drive by any local Dunkin' Donuts and their parking lots are packed.

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

skip the 'fast food" stuff and find a good espresso shop in your area. i drink a double shot of straight espresso. look for a good Italian style roast, i'm not real fond of Starbucks, i don't really care for that northwest dark roast (read burned).

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

Ok this is a little off topic but if you use folgers or some other regular stuff it tastes just like any fast food places coffee. But if you have a grinder (I have a grinder and a timer on my coffee maker so I have fresh coffee every morning already made for me when I get up) Fresh ground beans taste much better than any other pre ground crap.

Oh and the stronger the coffee the better....and you dont put anything more than a little bit of sugar in coffee...if you load it up with cream and a ton of sugar you might as well get yourself a cup of hot chocolate.

Yeah, I really liked Dunkaccino but now that they don't make it I go to McDs more often. The McD near my house serves good coffee unlike what I had in other McDs. The one I had in Connecticut somewhere on US-1 (I was half asleep then) was yucky.

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

I'm not a regular coffee drinker. At the house, I'm the only one who does drink coffee occassionally. My other half doesn't care for it. I do like the McDonalds coffee now. Its easy and quick, on my way to work. My preference is Starbucks but I don't get there too often. At the office the coffee of choice is "Folgers" which I've had on occassion and isn't too bad. I've never tried Dunkin Donuts coffee but I met some people at one of my conferences who swear by it. A couple of weeks ago I had french vanilla coffee for the first time. It was alright I guess.

Re: What's your favorite "fast food" Coffee??

i know it's kind of old but whatever.

Well the thing i really like about Tim Hortons over here is that it makes decent coffee that will always taste the same, but most of all, it's always open 24/7. sometimes it's the only thing that gets me through the night
