Disabling the Passlock

On a 98 Malibu. Ok this theft system thing is giving me way to many troubles. No codes but at least 1 time a day it acts up and flashes and I can't start my car for 20 mins. So my solution is to disable the darn thing. I plan to do this later this week. Instead of doing the toggle switch (I am afraid of forgetting which way to flip the switch and when) so we planned on putting the resistors in there to disable the system. So does anyone have any tips for me?

I know make sure the car is running when I cut it and the yellow wire is the passlock one. Anything I should know or any suggestions before I start this. Also is it easier (or a good Idea) to put the resistor on top of the ignition column. (does that make sense) or should I cut it else where in the line. Thanks for the help.

I hate the anti-theft system, it cause more problems, if the theif wants to steal your car, no way you can protect it

Re: Disabling the Passlock

Ok so I read some of the older posts and I think I have most of the info I now need. But now I have another question. Might sound a little silly but I don't know the answer. Ok so I have the yellow and black wire that run from the ignition cylinder and the BCM. And I cut both wires with the car is running. But when I go to place the resistors on the yellow and black wire connecting them which end of the wires do I use. Both ignition cylinder side or both BCM side?

Re: Disabling the Passlock

If your going to use the resistor trick you just cut the yellow. You put the resistor between the black wire and the yellow wire going to the bcm. Leave the black wire intact and just strip off some insulation.
