93 JGC sputters. coughs

I have been having this problem for about a week now. Driving down the road and the jeep starts acting like its not geting any gas. This would make sense if I didn't just have the entire fuel system worked on and cleaned out. I got a new crankshaft positioning sensor, ignition coil, fuel filter, distributor cap, spark plugs and wires, and a tune up. and then I installed a new catalytic converter. Its acting like there could be a hole somewhere in the exhaust system, and making it lose power. But it's not consistant, so my thinking is that the exhaust system is fine now that the new cat. is installed. Which brings me back to the fuel system. The diagnostic test said it wasn't the fuel pump. I really don't know what to do from here. Anyone have any ideas?

i would check the idle/air control valve. could be bad or sticking. i had an old chrysler new yorker that did the same thing that your saying and that was the problem all along. real cheap fix. could also be a bad TPS sensor. another real cheap fix.

figured it out. the exhaust manifold is cracked at the joint going into the exhaust pipe. going to be real fun to get this one fixed

Re: 93 JGC sputters. coughs

ok. so i replaced the exhaust manifold. to no avail, i might add. the car still has the same problem as before. so i took it to the sho to see if they could replace either the tps or the IAC valve, but on the way over there the car was running great. just got off the phone with them and they said it didn't duplicate the problem when they were looking at it, which is what i was afraid of. the damn thing is tempormental. is that typical of a bad IAC?
