Angry Power Steering

I have a 2005 Town and Country and I was leaking fluid in the front of the vehicle, dripping on the passenger side. The leak would be dripping from the black bar running across the bottom of the vehicle and sometimes would drip into the wheel well. Also the fluid is of a sticky texture. My mechanic (pretty reliable) diagnosed it as a leak on the power steering rack. However, that was about 6 weeks ago, the vehicle has never and still doesn't show any hard steering or noise. The fluid level in the reservoir is fine. Could it have it been a "misdiagnosis"? I hate to bring it to a dealer and I got whomped for something that isn't needed. Thanks

Re: Power Steering

I would just ride it out until there is a noticeable fluid loss when you check fluid levels. Keep in mind power steering fluid is clear to brown in color, engine oil is a darker brown, transmission fluid is red and coolant is green or orange.
