another warped rotor problem

Well I know alot of silverado's had this problem. And I use to be a brake tech and saw it all the time at the shop I worked at. Has anyone solved this problem?? I just replaced mine about 8 months ago and they are warped already.

Re: another warped rotor problem

I have a 2000 5.3 and have had my share of brake problems...I now have Brembo cross drilled rotors on the front with Hawk pads and new stock rotors/pads in the rear. I use the Super Blue brake fluid I think it is, I'd have to look at the can for sure but my truck stops better now at 96k miles then it ever has and I got it at 35K with all new the rotors/pads and I changed them once at 69K with Brembo slotted rotors and ceramic pads front and back and couldn't tell the difference over stock.

Re: another warped rotor problem

I have over 156K on my truck and I have never had any brake problems.. ame rotors and have only needed to replace the brakes once.. I know I know. But I swear by GM Ceramic pads.. best Pads I have ever had on a truck.

Re: another warped rotor problem

Wheels need to be tightened with a torque wrench in two steps following the proper criss-cross pattern to the proper specified torque value.. If not, you risk warping the rotors. Impact guns are a big no-no. Also, the reverse order has to be followed when removing a wheel.
Warped rotors are almost always result from improper and installation technique.

Re: another warped rotor problem

uhm well I torqued them myself. And yes I know how to do it. I was a mechanic. Thats not the reason they warped.

Re: another warped rotor problem

The only other thing that will warp them is overheating the brakes. Maybe the calipers are not fully releasing creating excessive heat.

Re: another warped rotor problem

brand new loaded calipers when I did the brakes. I have to check the rears out. My guess is that the rears have an issue and the fronts are overworking.
