Unhappy 17yr old vs Carrera GT

So, a buddy of mine and I went for an impromtu cruise and stopped by a Porsche dealership on our way to the Infiniti dealer... we pulled in and saw this in the back and had to get pictures. After a few minutes of us picking our jaws off the asphault a tech came by and told us what happenend. Apparently, a 17 year old kid 'borrowed' the GT from his dad without permission and spun her out into a wall.

Total cost of damage was $220,000+, it's a total write off insurance wise and will most likely be parted out due to the engine and transmission are still in working order.

Sad stuff... notice the rear spoiler/wing is in the UP position which I believe only comes up when you're going at a good rate probably 70-80mph or so. But I suspect the kid had to of been doing much faster to spin out a car of this caliber. Also, take note of the last picture where you can see the brake rotor itself is busted and missing about 25% of the rotor. Impressive!

I'm sure the old man took him off of his will after that stunt...What's that son? You wrecked my Porsche? I see, well, guess that means you won't be inhereting anything from me...

Re: 17yr old vs Carrera GT

Its not a car that just anyone would buy. If he could afford it he can afford the next one. Im sure the kid didnt even get a slap on the wrist.

Re: 17yr old vs Carrera GT

He got more than just a slap, he got hit by the driver side door airbag... oddly enough the steering wheel airbag wasn't activated. He must of just spun out and went over a curb or something like a center divider.

Re: 17yr old vs Carrera GT

Ehh, the damage doesn't even look that bad. I'm surprised by the cost to repair the car, and it being considered totalled. I'm sure the guy had insurance, so more then likely he'll get another Carrera GT.

Kid should not be allowed to drive for a year. That is what I would do. Let him bounce around on his bus pass. Heck, i'm sure the kid knows his rich daddy ain't gonna get him the 911 he wanted this year.

man if that was my son he would not own a car until he was 18 and out of the house, and he'd have to pay for it

Considering the Carrera GT was discontinued after just a 2 year run, it's doubtful he'll get another one. Although, I know where a used black on black one is for sale on consignment at a local dealership in Newport Beach...

While at the Porsche dealership, there was a 16 year old girl with her dad and rich friend, she was getting her first car at 16... and from the sounds of it, it was a new 911 Cabriolet. Must be nice to get a 70-80k car for your first ride.

She wasn't even cute.

Re: 17yr old vs Carrera GT

Yeah. I remember when I was in LA a few years ago. Everybody crusing the PHC had a Porsche 911... even ugly chicks. Sadly, it doesn't help them...

It really is sad to see such a beautiful vehicle - one that 99% of most auto enthusiasts will never get to even sit inside, much less drive - get fucked up by some brat teenager who wanted to drive his dad's car. We can only wish that this kid gets his girl pregnant with twins. But if that happened I'm sure he'd just ask his dad to sell the kids to some family that works for his company or something...

Re: 17yr old vs Carrera GT

I'm reminded of the video of the 10 year old kid who keeps saying "give me the keys" or something like that, for his dad's brand new mustang cobra or something, and ends up putting it through the garage door...

That's just a shame. I'd beat that kids ass with a belt until it was every color of the rainbow...then ground him until man steps foot on Neptune.
