contour died

I have a ford contour it just died on the highway. I was wondering what was wrong with it. The car won't turnover, even a little. All that happens when I turn on the igniton is a hissing sound.

Re: contour died

First of all, what engine do you have?

Anything happen prior to the car just shutting off?

Have you tested anything like the battery?

Anymore info would help. Hard to diagnose with only knowing "it shut off, whats wrong?"

i know this is an old thread, but its a real shame the original author has not updated... I am currently in the process of working on a car like this... my shop foreman diagnosed it as a faulty starter, simply because it came in as a no start... 24v v6 too, not pleasant for changing starters... at any rate, the started is fine, but something electrical is the culprit, and I've so far spent 8 hours trouble shooting... perhaps the original author might recieve notification of this reply in his post and give us an update
