Re: 92 RS wont run????

You need 3 things to make an engine run...fuel (you say the injectors are firing), Air (lots of that here) and spark...you are probably missing spark.

What color was the spark? It should be blue/white. If it is red or deep orange, it is a weak spark.

Re: 92 RS wont run????

Hi
You have spark and fuel and air.............i have a 91 rs and had the same problem. I went through all the steps and never figured it out. I took it to my mechanic and it ended up being my injectors.Even though they would fire while it was turning over, when i sprayed starting fluid in it and forced it to start they would quit firing........You might want to see if you can start it with starting fluid then if it starts ....get some injectors

If the engine will turn over, as in the starter engages, then VATS has nothing to do with the problem. VATS only prevents the starter from engaging.

Re: 92 RS wont run????

i know that my vats is not hooked up properly i jumped the starter enable relay so it would crank. The Vats wont put out a sufficient amount of volts to crank the motor if its engaged

Re: 92 RS wont run????

If you have jumpered the starter enable relay, then you have effectively bypassed VATS.
Do as suggested and have someone crank it over and spray some starting fluid down the TBI. If it starts and your injectors are indeed pulsing, then you probably need new injectors. But first verify that the fuel pump is running and pumping out fuel, and then for good measure, replace the fuel filter. If you have good fuel flow up to the injectors, then they need to be replaced.
