Struts and shocks changed.....
Gentlemen:
Finally got the struts and shocks replaced on my 97 pa....pretty straight forward process, took about 4 hours. Now all thats left is to get it aligned and have the new goodyear comfortreds installed. I went with the monroe sensatracs, and changed the outer tie rods. Its got that "nice tight ride" now. I purchased this vehicle a year ago with 130,000 miles, only put 3000 miles on it so far. Last summer i painted it, It had the bordeaux red on it, but seen the updated color of dark garnet red on the new Lucerne so i used that. Theres a pic below if the link works. And hey HotZ28....i used your tip of getting rid of the air compressor pump and got the line kit for the rear shocks....I think i'm gonna like that much better....seems about 20 pounds gives a real nice ride. Thanks again for all your help. Northstar http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ck/jul0922.jpg |

Northstar, thanks for the feedback! That is one beautiful PA!
Can you give us some more pics of the whole car? BTW, good choice on the struts and the manual fill. Did the MA822 (rear strut) come with the correct fittings for the air lines on the strut? IIRC, they were different from ACDelco fittings.

HotZ28:
Yes, the MA822 had the same air inlet as the OEM's, so everything will fit if i decided to go back to the air pump, but i like the manual fill, it holds the exact pressure you put in it, and theres not many times i carry an extra load to where i need the shocks pumped up. I tried to post more pics, but all i could manage was the links. I repainted this in my garage last summer...bc/cc....two coats of dupont chroma, three coats of clearcoat, colorsanded to remove the peel, then buffed to get everything flat. I have some different wheels i'm going to install once the tires i ordered show up. I'll try and posts some pics once I get that all done. Again...thanks for all the help this forum provides....Its an excellent source for us diy'ers. Oh...this is not an ultra...i added aftermarket portholes, and aftermarket grille... Northstar ![]() ![]() ![]() I copied the pics for you. You can use this icon in the tool bar at the top and copy & past the URL of the pic and it will show it here as above.

Re: Struts and shocks changed.....
Here are a few pics of my 93 LeSabre Limited. As you can see, I favor the garnet red color. LeSabre & Z28 are both the same color!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I almost forgot, even my ole Chevy truck, is basically the same color! ![]()

Re: Struts and shocks changed.....
Thats interesting.. Ive been hunting for a red Park Ultra for a couple months now.. Burgandy, actually.. or is it Boreaux.. heh
I found one and went back for it and it was sold. Proubbly should have paid asking price and drove it away. It was beyond my $ for the bang and didnt like the center console plastic vers the leather in my 94'. I see they went back to the leather center console in 99' vrs the 96' I was looking at. Proubbly would have to fly to someplace and drive one home.. Looking for a bargain too hard I guess.. Ive got time its just sometimes my checkbook develops a leak. I'm not a bad painter.. but dont like the previous colors left in those more difficult areas to cover. Starting to think I need to start a printed folder of all these great posts that I cant seem to find again. Thanks for the post. Glad he got that polishin' done before the big chill up there.. Nice..

"Oh...this is not an ultra...i added aftermarket portholes, and aftermarket grille..."
Though...in 05 (last year for Park's) the base model gets the portholes and also a revision to the grille and taillamps (but it is a different grille than the Ultra...not as fancy). Nice job! |

Re: Struts and shocks changed.....
Saw that.. the rear view mirror is slightly bigger on the ultra, and center caps are rare on them too. I think.
Where do you get those bling blings? Is the grill from the dealer? Thanks.

I got the portholes at a local car show...and the grille (it was new, not used) actually came from ebay....i remember paying less than 50 dollars for it. Northstar |

Re: Struts and shocks changed.....
Absolutely beautiful!!!
I have the ComforTreds on my PA. I love em'. I did a lot of research on tires before I bought. These are the softest/quietest tires on the market (according to a consumer reporting website). They look great. I have the white stripe out (it's a thin stripe, so not too "in your face" with the white). They also supposedly have a compound that keeps them looking like new even as they wear. I've got probably 7K on mine and they look really good and shine up well, especially on the chrome wheels. What kind of wheels are you going for? Aftermarket or different stock...

Tophers:
I'm excited about trying out the comfortreads....I sifted thru lots of tires, they seemed the best choice....my second choice was the tripletread, but wanted the quiet smooth ride. I've got them on order so it will be a week or two. As for the wheels, i'm staying pretty much close to stock....Its a seven spoke alloy cadillac wheel.....i wanted the extra half inch width...16x7.
