Got a car wash, they sprayed under frame for salt, car was running at time. Drove about 2 miles turned car off for about 15 minutes to get coffee, started car and drove about 5 miles, car ran fine.
Parked car, temperture about 30 degrees for about 5 hours. Went to crank car, engine light on and crank no start. Tried gas in carburator and still crank no start, NOT EVEN AN ATTEMPT to start. Hit on bottom of gas tank as several in forum said to try, no good. Checked all fuses under hood and in car. Battery is charged and have abooster hooked up. Had to have towed to house. ANY IDEAS ?

Remove dist cap and dry check for moisture and or cracks. Did the check engine light come on before the no start or after? Year and engine? Got spark to plugs and fuel pump kicking in?

Re: check engine light on crank no start
I would definitely say once it dries out she wil start again, funny thing is it coud be the fuel pump cause they can go at anytime without warning. I had one go after I paid a parking ticket at the police station. Just got in and it cranked and no start.

Re: check engine light on crank no start
Like everyone mentioned, check for fuel pump operation, if you can hear the pump, throw a fuel pressure guage on there and see what pressure you are getting.
Check for spark. Could be anything from condition of wires/cap and rotor to crank shaft sensor, etc, etc. MT mentioned all this too, sorry if I am redundant but thats a good place to start, IMO too. |
