00 taurus

how are the 00 taurus' with the 3.0 12 valve. how is the tranny? any issues with either? I was going to buy an 06 but what annoyed me was the speedometer. they shrunk it and moved it off to the side so the steering wheel covers some of it. what was ford thinking?

Re: 00 taurus

You didn't say how many it miles on it but around 90K would be average. What kind of maintenance program has it been on? Regular oil changes and tranny fluid & filter changes? Do they have receipts for the maintenance work, new brake pads, new air filters, new fuel filters? Anything to verify it has had TLC or was it a fleet or rental vehicle that got the pookey drove out of it? Car that old you definitely need to run a www.carfax.com and pull up its entire history and see exactly who owned it and where it lived. Costs $20. but it's the best $20. you will ever spend buying a used vehicle.

General consensus is Tauri run a long time if you treat them with reasonable care and maintenance. Many people tend to neglect the tranny fluid changes and due to their own negligence have tranny problems. If you buy it with a warranty make darn sure you get the warranty in writing and read it over very carefully. Let the buyer beware. Good luck.
