Help needed!!

Hi guys, i just found out this great forum, and i hope you can help me out!

I own a 2001 corolla s 1.8 vvt-i 155000km
The problems are...
when the temperature outside is higher than 0 celsius and i start the engine, the engine rev up and down for about a minutes going from 500 to 3500 rpm at each secondes... and there's a sound comming from the engine, like something is sucking air!
the other problem is when i fill the gas tank the engine is not starting...

what i know about the cars is that last week they change the serpentine belt...the water pump, the iridium spark plug and the front cover gasket.

And i have a note on my receipt that says the vsv is bypass po441.

toyota dealer charge me 860$ can. for this and the car still got those problem...if anyone of you have an idea!

Thanks a lot

ps sorry if my english is bad, i usually speak french!

Re: Help needed!!

Your high reving and sucking sound is probably a disconnected or cracked vacuum hose. Check all the hoses under the hood and make sure they are connected. Listen for the sucking sound to pinpoint the leak.

P0441 is a DRB II fail code and indicates an EVAP system failure. This system traps and stores fuel vapors when your car is not running. Could also be associated with your hard starting after refueling. Could also be associated with your erratic idle too because it uses vacuum to operate. If you find a vacuum hose disconnected on the evap system you may solve all your problems. There is a codes troubleshooting section in the Corolla FAQs thread at the top of the forum that may help you. You'll find P0441 in bold meaning there is a troubleshooting section further down the page. Welcome to the forum.
