New to me
Hello, conti owners, I just purchased a 96 pearl, love that color always have. anyway just wanted to say hi and thanks for the posts, I read all them mostly before buying the car, I belong to the forum because I have a sho taurus. this car is my second lincoln I had a 89 mark and loved it it was a trouble free car. this conti was my father in laws good car he always has a nice car and drives a van or whatever half junker he has at the time. this is a rust free car that has 151,000 on it I was under the car yesterday no drips no seapage anywhere, it has new halfshafts both sides. it has no codes I bought a obd2 for it I have a scanner for all my stuff. it does have a abs light on and a check traction control in the display, so I will do some more checking and clean all the sensors after the weather warms a little its 4 deg out right now ouch, going to be below zero all weekend. any info would be appreciated maybe something I missed in my readings. I know the air susp is ok it sat for three months when I went to look at it and it barely went up when I started it, it rides good and actually feels like 50,000 going down the road no rattles nuttin! and we love the heated seats here in minnesota and these cold mornings, never had that feature before. when I checked it over it had a weird thing i have never seen before, the big plastic cone thats glued to the airfilter end was off glue went bad? don't know but I put a new on. there are a few interior pieces that I would like to replace due to smokers burns but the car has no smoke smell thanks to my father in law used a ozone two part cleaner worked great. well thanks for the time and the info. Byron

Re: New to me
Sounds Great !! Mines a great color too!
That "Cone" sounds like a cold air intake vent I'll check my manual to see if theres a drawing of that. In any case, it may just be some sort of silencer? You're right on track with the ABS and Trac warnings. The sensors (or one of them) may be dirty or defective. Unfortunately the scanner to itemize that problem isn't affordable to the average garage mechanic. A OHM meter is all thats needed to test the sensors.
