4WD help on a 2000 z71

OK, the other day, I had my truck in 4wd and when I parked it, I put it back in 2wd. I went to leave a few hours later, and when I went to put it in 4wd, I noticed that the 2 hi indicator light was not lit up. The switch itself illuminated with the rest of the interior lighting, but there was no indicator light and the service 4wd msg came up. I tried to put it in 4wd, and I got nothing. No sound of anything engauging - nothing.

I read the threads on this forum and concluded that it was a bad switch so I changed out the switch - same thing - I plugged in the top harness, and the lights came on - no indicator light though. And when I plugged in the bottom harness, nothing happened.

I checked the fuse that was marked 4wd, and it was fine. I'm at a loss here.

Also, I took it to autozone and had them read the code, (since the stealership was gonna charge me $78 to do it, and they got nothing

I'll keep searching the forum, but any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like the actuator to the xfer case may be out.
