fuel smell

1988 chevy suburban 4wd 250 5.7L
It just started at the begining of this week, whenever i accelerate from a dead start i get a good strong wiff of gasoline. I was told it could be the evaporator canister or a fuel line leak. I checked the fuel line which was pointless since i figure if i had a gas leak i would notice it on the fuel gauge. Any ideas.

Exclamation Re: fuel smell

you may not think it's using gas but hole could be a small one..and if you say it don't have as much get up and go you have a leak somewhere..good luck.
