Stock Cd Player Locked

How do I unlock the stock cd player in my 99 Cavalier Z22? It locked after we changed the altenator and now says LOC on the screen. How do I unlock it to play again?

well this never happened to me and, i would think its got to do with the battery... Did you disconnect the battery when you changed the alternator..?? Cuz this might have caused it.. Maybe you should try disconnecting your battery terminals and, reconnecting them.. see maybe that might help. Either then that i dont really know.. but it doesnt seem to be serious..

What happened is the Theftlock has been activated. The stock radios that are equipped with Theftlock have an activation code. When you unhooked the battery to change the alternator, the radio lost power and thus the activation code. Now you have to input the code to get the radio to come back. The idea is that if someone stole the radio, it wouldnt work when they hooked it back up, therefore, why steal it right? You have to contact the dealer and tell them what happened. Give them the VIN number and see if they can help you. For future reference, they sell a little gadget at Auto Zone that plugs into your cigarette lighter and it connects to a standard 9 Volt battery. You plug that into the cigarette lighter before disconnecting the battery and it keeps power to the radio to prevent what happened from happening. Good luck!
