1985 cutlass tranny problem

I bought this car a year ago and the reverse went out and the other gears went shortly after that! I took it to a junk yard and they replaced the tranny in it.... they told me it was remanufactured so when i got it home i took a look and it is a different and new looking tranny!
The problem is that it hesitates for a few seconds then it kicks into gear!
could this be a problem other than the tranny?
I'm lost.................................

Kicks into gear when, when upshifting or putting it into dr? If upshifting the tv cable may need an adjustment.

Thanks for the info..... the tv cable is a little loose!
What about the hesitation when putting it into any gear.... drive, reverse etc.
The problem is that i dont have much knowledge when it come to trannys... other than that im good!

The hesitation may be normal if it is a count of 2-3. But a long delay is a sign of problems. Get the cable adjusted or checked for stretch by a pro.

Re: 1985 cutlass tranny problem

I do really appreciate your help.......
If there was an actual transmission problem would it just be in selected gears or all gears? or could there be a problem in the rearend?
