1985 cutlass tranny problem
I bought this car a year ago and the reverse went out and the other gears went shortly after that! I took it to a junk yard and they replaced the tranny in it.... they told me it was remanufactured so when i got it home i took a look and it is a different and new looking tranny!
The problem is that it hesitates for a few seconds then it kicks into gear! could this be a problem other than the tranny? I'm lost................................. |

Re: 1985 cutlass tranny problem
Kicks into gear when, when upshifting or putting it into dr? If upshifting the tv cable may need an adjustment.

Re: 1985 cutlass tranny problem
Thanks for the info..... the tv cable is a little loose!
What about the hesitation when putting it into any gear.... drive, reverse etc. The problem is that i dont have much knowledge when it come to trannys... other than that im good! |

Re: 1985 cutlass tranny problem
The hesitation may be normal if it is a count of 2-3. But a long delay is a sign of problems. Get the cable adjusted or checked for stretch by a pro.

Re: 1985 cutlass tranny problem
I do really appreciate your help.......
If there was an actual transmission problem would it just be in selected gears or all gears? or could there be a problem in the rearend? |

Re: 1985 cutlass tranny problem
Sounds like a trans issue here.
