87 nova problems

i've got a 1987 nova with a toyota 1.6L 4-cly engine in it and it as been setting up for about 2 years and now it will crank up but it will not stay running anyone know why?

and also the fuel pump on the carburetor was stuck so we hit it a few times and it free up

Please tell us you drained the old gas, changed the filter, and flushed the lines/carb before you tried to start it....
